Wife of Senate President, Toyin Saraki and wife of the Lagos State Governor, Bolanle Ambode have called for kind-spirited concerns to advance the cause of the girl child.

They made the appeal at different fora to commemorate the International Day of the Girl Child, where they noted that though measures are being taken by governments at all levels, more grounds still need to be covered to attain desired goals.

Saraki, who is the Founder-President, Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA), noted that her organisation visited schools across Lagos, Kwara and Abuja, where over 500 girls were reached. Special sessions were also conducted with female students in line with this year’s theme, “With Her: A Skilled Girl Force.”

Ambode’s wife, who was speaking at an event organised by Live Abundantly Empowerment Initiative (LAEI), held at the Wesley School For Hearing Impaired, Surulere, Lagos, said the girl-child needs assistance in the area of equal access to quality education, general protection from social evils like rape, domestic violence, molestations and other right abuses.

In her speech, the Founder-Executive Director, LAEI, Dr. Ama Onyerinma called for education of the girl-child, in order for them to have the skills that will make their lives meaningful.
