The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, says adequate number of policemen and LASTMA officials have been deployed to ensure security during the Sallah holidays.

Owoseni made the assertion while briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos on some successes the police recorded in the last one week in the state.

He said there would be a continuous raiding of black spots and uncompleted building across the state.

“On a hitch-free Sallah, we have concluded arrangements on how to reduce street hawking, particularly in gridlocks.

“There has been an increase in gridlock hawking in the last few days. The taskforce will not allow hawkers freely in the state.

“Police, LASTMA and RRS squad will be out to ensure that all parts of Lagos are safe and free from gridlocks,’’ he said.

“We seek the understanding of members of the public to be disciplined on the roads and settle little infractions amicably for free vehicular movement.

“Everyone must cooperate with the police and other security agents to facilitate a hitch-free Sallah.’’

Owoseni called on members of the public to report strange movements and gatherings in the state to the police.
