President of the club, Atul Kshetry, said apart from the health week, the club has consistently rendered healthcare services to many people. “We have crossed the target of 1,000 beneficiaries earlier set and what we are now doing is to see how to organize camps like this because many poor people are in need of medical examination,” he said.

In the same vein, the Rotary Club of Agege gave free medical treatment to residents of Papa Ashafa, Orile Agege and distributed treated mosquito nets among other materials to members of the community. They were charged to go for routine check up to know their health status and desist from self-medication.

President of the club, Mrs. Adebisi Ade-Onojobi Salako, said the three-day health programme was organized to trained and educate the community on how to manage common ailments such as hypertension and diabetes. “We have been counseling them on personal hygiene. We have also tested, screened and examined over a thousand people on malaria, polio, diabetes, hypertension, HIV and deworming of children.”

In his appreciation, the residents’ chairman, Chief Biodun Mukaila Musiro, thanked members of the club for bringing the outreach to their community. “We have benefited immensely, we appreciate the club and we are appealing to them to help us equip our health center.”

As part of activities to mark the Rotary Family Health Day (RFHD), the Rotary Club of Lagos Island in collaboration with Grover Medicals Lifestyle Clinic provided free screening, treatment and drugs to 211 people.

The free health services include: HIV testing and counseling, diabetes, typhoid, hepatitis, tuberculosis, de-worming of children, eye check, malaria screening and treatment, family planning counseling and condom gifts, sanitary towels for girls and free treated insecticide nets for nursing mothers and pregnant women.

President of the club, Sanjeev Tandon, said the initiative was to ensure people in communities live healthy. The chairman, Grover Medical Lifestyle Clinic, Chief Anil Grover, said there was need for Nigerians to be screened and treated, as most of them are unaware they have some form of ailments in them, which could lead to sudden death.
