The newly appointed Vice Chancellor (VC) of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, has been advised to use his new position to improve the university community and the nation.

Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNILAG Chapter, Adelaja Odukoya, who stated this in his felicitation message, urged Ogundipe to effectively work to improve welfare of workers and enhance teaching and learning in the university.

Odukoya, in the goodwill message, stated that the Union congratulates all those who took part in the VC race.

“For our new VC, this is not the time to excessively celebrate. Your time of celebration will come at the end of your tenure, when your scorecard will be for the world to judge. So, roll up your sleeves and get ready to labour for all. Your mandate is to take our Unilag to the next level.

The Union shares your joy and happiness at this momentous period and urge that as the first among equals you should work for the collective, strive for the greatest good, and for the greatest number in terms of welfare and career advancement.”

Ogundipe is to succeed Prof Rahamon Adisa Bello, as the 12th VC of UNILAG.
