The resolution follows a motion under order eight, rule 52 (5) brought by Nkeiruka Onyejeocha (PDP, Isialangwu, north/south, Abia) drawing the lawmakers attention to what she called, “Devastating Gully Erosion in Isuikwuato and Umunneocha Local Government Areas.”

Moving the motion, the lawmaker informed her colleagues that the affected areas are agrarian communities that are inter-connected with other communities.

She said areas like Isuochi in Umudim-Iomara road, and Ndiawa-Ubinulo-Orie Ngbodo road have been adversely affected by gully erosion which has almost cut them off neighbouring communities, damaged both the economic and social well-being of the people, and have destroyed their means of livelihood.
