Pomp as Ooni takes new wife in Edo
Barely three months after he defeated several contestants and ascended the revered throne of Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, yesterday, in Benin, recorded another achievement, as he married former Miss Wuraola Otiti Obanor.
Notwithstanding controversies of ancestral supremacy between the Benin and Yoruba traditional institutions, the event was attended by eminent personalities including top chiefs from the Ife traditional council and the Benin palace.
The Guardian gathered that the Ooni’s entourage, led by his father, had arrived the ancient city, Friday evening, and was hosted by the bride’s family, and later by the Esama of Benin.
The GRA, Etete, residence of the Obanors was a beehive of activities, as both families performed the in-house rite for payment of the bride price. It marked the highpoint of the colourful ceremony, as traditional troupes from Osun and Edo States serenaded guests with dance.
The bride was presented to the Ooni’s family at about 12.30pm and was made to sit on the laps of the monarch’s father, HRH Omooba Oluropo Ogunwusi, as required by traditional.
Speaking to newsmen shortly at the ceremony, father of the bride, Williams Obanor, described the union between his daughter and the monarch as the work of God.
He said: “I feel very happy. When you get a good thing in life, you must be grateful to God. I never thought that one day I would become very close to the Ooni of Ife. Now that it has happened, I feel grateful to God.”

This is curious: “The bride was presented to the Ooni’s family at about 12.30pm and was made to sit on the laps of the monarch’s father, HRH Omooba Oluropo Ogunwusi, as required by traditional”, does it mean that the father of ooni want to taste her before???..
Lol.
I wish the couple happy married life, the Princess should know that the past as gone, she should face her new life with prayers. Congratulations.
