DETERMINED to deal with cases of militancy and sea pirates’ attacks in the South-South region of the country, the Zone 6 Police Command in Calabar has taken delivery of a surveillance helicopter.

This came on the heels of a recent pact by the Command and sister security agencies within the zone to form a joint task force to checkmate security threats in the area.

The helicopter was received at the Margaret Ekpo International airport by the Assistant Inspector General of police in charge of the Command, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin.

Elated over the development, Ogunsakin applauded Inspector General of Police, Solomon Erase, over his commitment to ensure peace and security in the zone.

The six-seater helicopter gotten from the force headquarters in Abuja, it was gathered, is fitted with modern communication gadgets to aid effective surveillance of the creeks.

Ogunsakin assured that the security forces would deploy technologically-driven and action able intelligence to actualize their common goal in policing the zone.

The AIG expressed optimism that the surveillance helicopter will go a long way to reinforce the Command’s arsenal.

He gave assurance that the incidents of kidnapping and militancy in the zone would soon be of the past.

It would be recalled that the Marine Police was recently attacked and arms and ammunition carted away by dare-devil militants who came in by sea.
