THE Anambra State Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) yesterday arrested four suspected kidnapers after a gun battle at Nteje in Oyi Local Government Council of the state.

Police also rescued three-year-old Kamsi Okeke, daughter of Pastor Louis Okeke of the Foursquare Church in Awka.

It was also learnt that the SARS officers, led by its state commander, James Nwafor, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) had, before the arrest, been searching for the girl through out the state.

Police later engaged the hoodlums at Nteje, where they kept their victim.

It was gathered that the gang kidnapped the baby girl in her father’s house at Ngozika Estate in Awka last week Wednesday. They (the suspects) had demanded N15 million from the parents, an amount, which they later reduced to N3 million.

Reports said the gang leader was the pastor’s auto mechanic, and could have studied his movements before carrying out the operation.
