Police kill suspected kidnapper in Edo
THE police in Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo local council of Edo State have reportedly killed a suspected kidnapper who was said to have lured a butcher into the forest in the guise of doing business with him during the Sallah.
The Guardian gathered that the late suspect, who was in company of three others, had approached the 58-year-old butcher in Igarra, requesting him to buy some cows and rams for the Muslim festivity.
The victim was said to have agreed for an amount and eventually followed his abductors to inspect the animals where he was eventually seized by heavily armed men.
It was further gathered that the victim was relocated to another forest near Ibillo, a neighbouring town.
The suspected hoodlums were said to have opened negotiation, demanding N5 million as ransom.
The suspect was reportedly shot dead in a gun duel after a confrontation with the police who had pretended to have brought the ransom.
