Police inaugurates Babcock University’s PCRC

A six- man interim executive has been constituted to pilot the affairs of the Babcock University’s Chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for the next six months.

A six- man interim executive has been constituted to pilot the affairs of the Babcock University’s Chapter of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for the next six months.

The Nigeria Police Area Commander, Sagamu, ACP Isa Grema inaugurated the unit Wednesday at Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State.ACP Grema was assisted at the inauguration ceremony by the Divisional Police Officers of Mowe, CSP Francis Ebhuoma; Owode Egba, CSP Shehu Alao; Ogere, CSP Ahmed Nasir; Ikenne, CSP Abubakar Azare, Redeemed Camp, SP Olaiya Martins; DSP Joseph Taklghir, represented the Divisional Police Officer of Iperu and Sagamu Area Command Administrative Officer, ASP Adiele Uchenna.

Dr. Ayodeji Oyedele heads the interim executive. Other members of the executive include, Richard Oluwasanya, deputy coordinator; Emmanuel Godson, secretary; Dr. Patience Chioma, treasurer; Joshua Suleiman, public relations officer and Mark Anthony, provost.
Speaking, ACP Isa Grema reiterated that PCRC was a humanitarian body consisting of by well-meaning Nigerians who have committed to assisting the Police in combating crime in the society.

According to him, there was no way the Police alone could surmount the ever-challenging societal issues alone hence the support of civilians for the onerous task.He lauded Babcock University as an institution, which no right-thinking persons or institutions could afford to ignore.

He gave an assurance that the university would continue to enjoy the support and cooperation of the Nigeria Police in whatever capacities.“Babcock University is a great institution. There is nothing we can do without the support of Babcock and vice versa,” he stated.

Earlier, Ogun state deputy chairman of PCRC, Pastor Michael Lawson said the inauguration was informed by the need for the Babcock community to support the Police to perform her duty better.

Lawson expressed the hope that the unit would in the near future form the nucleus of a full-fledge Police station.President/Vice Chancellor, Professor Ademola Tayo was presented with a certificate of patronship of the Sagamu Area Command, even as plans are afoot to honour him with the state patronship during the forthcoming PCRC week.

Professor Tayo, who was represented by the Chief of Staff to the President/Vice Chancellor, Dr. Didam Audu, thanked the committee for the honour done him. He said he was not only delighted with the birth of the PCRC on campus but also thankful of the effort by the Police at ensuring that the alarming crime rate along the Sagamu-Ore axis has abated.The Sagamu area command of PCRC is made of 11 divisions, covering four local government areas of Remo, Sagamu, Obafemi Owode and Ikenne.
