A 35-yeal-old man, Ayegunle Adekunle, has been arrested by men of the Ogun State police command for forcefully having carnal knowledge of a three-year-old girl (name withheld).

The suspect, said to be a co-tenant of the victim’s parents at No. 29 Ore Meji Street, Oriokuta, Ota, was arrested following a complaint by the victim’s mother at Onipanu divisional police headquarters, Ota.

According to the state police command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, the mother reported that she discovered a bloodstain in her daughter’s pant, which raised her suspicion and after removing the pants, she discovered that “she was actually bleeding from her private part.

On enquiry, the girl disclosed how the suspect lured her into his room and had carnal knowledge of her.”

Oyeyemi in a statement in Abeokuta yesterday stated that upon the complaint, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Sangobiyi Johnson, detailed his detectives to arrest the suspect. The suspect, according to the statement “has confessed to committing the crime and blamed it on the devil.”

The victim, according to Oyeyemi, is receiving medical attention at a hospital.

The statement indicated that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the case be transferred to the Anti-human Trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation and prosecution.

Meanwhile, 48-year-old-man, Mallam Ado Abdul, has infected his three-year-old daughter, Adama, with HIV after having several rounds of sex with her. It was reliably gathered that Mallam Abdul, who lost his wife last year due to prolonged illness, developed love for his daughter and started sleeping with her.

Sources revealed that Ado, who lived at Gidan Sarkin Ilele, Kasuwan Magani Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, instead of allowing the little girl, Adama to stay with her grandmother, took his daughter to his house with a view to having illicit affair with her.

According to one of the residents in the area who spoke on the condition of anonymity, trouble started when the little Adama began to show strange signs.

“Her belly started swelling, she couldn’t eat, and we discovered serious bleeding from her private part. It was then the grandmother took her to a medical facility in Kasuwan Magani to conduct a test on her,” the source said.

According to him, after several tests, it was confirmed that Adama’s swollen belly was due to excess sperm storage as damage had already been done to her private part.

The grandmother of the girl, it was learnt, immediately reported the case to Kasuwan Magani police station and the Sarkin but no action was taken.

Angered by this, the grandmother reported the case to the Kaduna State Ministry of Women Affairs, Child Welfare Department, who forwarded same to security agent for investigations.

Confirming the report, a source at the Ministry of Women Affairs who does not want his name in print told newsmen that it received a report from an elderly woman at Kasuwan Magani, as the ministry had since sent a memo to security agency to carry out full investigation.

According to him, based on the security report, the father of the girl went into hiding since the incident became known even as the community wanted to hide him from the public glare.
