Sources close to Ketu Police Station where the case was reported by a good Nigerian, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the wife was the suspect who assaulted the maid.

“We can regard the case as child trafficking and assault occasioning harm.

“The incident happened on Aug. 30, at about 9.10 p.m.

“We got information from a good Nigerian that one Patience Oviat, 16, was laying in a pool of her blood at No. 3, Adeyiga Str., Ikosi-Ketu.

“Her body was full of different degrees of wounds. On receipt of the information, a patrol team from Ketu Police Station led by one Insp. Thomas Uzuoli went there to rescue the girl.

“The police team rushed the girl to one Elegbeleye private hospital in Ketu area for treatment, while the couple were arrested,’’ the source told NAN.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the girl was brought from Cross River to Lagos as house help to one Abimbola Shita, a.k.a. Iyatomesi.

“The girl was battered by her madam over an undisclosed matter.’’

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, DSP Patricia Amadin, who confirmed the arrest, said investigation had begun into the case.
