THE National Pension Commission (PenCom) has announced plans to address and focus on how to entrench enduring pension systems across Africa, with particular emphasis on channeling pension funds towards addressing the huge infrastructure deficit in the continet.

The plan was unveiled recently, at the media briefing held recently to announce the second edition of the World Pension Summit ëAfrica Special, which is billed to take place at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, on October 5 and 6, under the theme, Building sustainable pension systems in Africa. The event will also witness the official launch of the new PenCom logo.

According to the Director General PenCom, Chinelo Anohu-Amazu, ìAfrica faces huge infrastructure challenges and pension funds, as long term capital are ideally suited for investment in infrastructure. Financing infrastructure is still a major challenge for most African countries despite the availability of huge aggregate of pension funds.
