Aggrieved members of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Anambra State have raised the alarm that some party stalwarts went underground to conduct a delegates’ congress in the state.

Aggrieved members of Peoples Democratic party (PDP) in Anambra State have raised the alarm that some party stalwarts went underground to conduct a delegates’ congress in the state.

The congress, reportedly conducted yesterday at an undisclosed location by some National Assembly members, in collaboration with members of the Chief Ndubuisi Nwobu-led caretaker committee, was to select the 326 ward delegates.

A member of the state executive committee, Obinna Okafor, told The Guardian that the PDP hierarchy had shifted the congress to September 13, 2018.

He, however, alleged that the NASS members working in collaboration with the caretaker committee were already conducting the congress to select the 326 ward delegates.

Efforts to reach Nwobu before press time proved abortive.

Meanwhile, at the state’s party headquarters, the administrative secretary, Prince Ajulu Casmir, said: “The congress was scheduled to hold in Anambra for two days, but was shifted to September 13, 2018, according to information from the national headquarters.”
