The residents yesterday staged a peaceful walk with the local vigilance group in Diobu to the Government House, asking the government to intervene.

The spokesman of the protesters, Nelson Okoro, said criminals did not allow people rest.

“We have not been sleeping at all because of criminals. Restaurants and other businesses hardly operate at night because criminals come out at will and terrorise people and nothing happens .

“We are having a liitle relief now because of this vigilance group that came up. The one that is threatening us now is a letter that the criminals sent to inform us that by November ending and throughout December, we will not rest. We are now living in fear.”

Chairman of Diobu vigilance group, Victor Ohaji, said the group wants the government to provide them logistic in order to be able to be effective in protecting the people.

“Government should allow us to carry gun us because the criminals we face have arms and we do not. We are always at risk while trying to provide security for our people,” he said.
