Osinbajo, Jonathan, others extol Anambra governor’s departed mother

Prominent Nigerians, including Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, wife of the president, Aisha Muhammadu Buahri and former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday eulogised the late Ezinna Christiana Obiano.

Prominent Nigerians, including Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, wife of the president, Aisha Muhammadu Buahri and former President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday eulogised the late Ezinna Christiana Obiano.

The deceased, who died on June 2, 2017 at the age of 90 years, was mother of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State.At the well attended funeral yesterday in Aguleri were over 140 clerics, including the Catholic Archbishop of Onitsha Diocese, Most Rev Valerian Maduka Okeke, his Nnewi counterpart, Most Rev. Hillary Okeke, Apostolic Nuncio of Ireland, Archbishop Jude Okolo, Primate, Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Nicholas Okoh, Anglican Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Rt. Rev Emmanuel Chukuwuma as well as his Aguata colleague, Rt. Rev. Ephraim Efuobi.

Others who graced the occasion are the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbannaya Onu, his Ministry of Interior counterpart, Abdulraham Dambazau, former governors Peter Obi and Dame Virgy Etiba as well as the wife of First Republic President, Prof. Uche Azikiwe.

Also present at the event were wife of the late Biafra warlord, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, Senator Joy Emordi, Chief Victor Oye, Chief Victor Umeh, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, Senators Andy Ubah, Ndi Obi, Annie Okonkwo and Uche Ekwunife.

Although the South East governors were conspicuously absent at the burial, some of them were, however, represented by their wives. They include Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu of Abia State and her Imo and Enugu counterparts, Dr. Nneoma Okorocha and Mrs. Monica Ugwuanyi as well as traditional rulers, captains of industry among others.

In his homily, Most Rev. Okeke extolled the life and times of the late Obiano whom he said showered love to all that crossed her path.He enjoined Nigerians to emulate her by accommodating one another.
