Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom

As Christian celebrate this year’s Easter, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has reassured the people of the state that his administration would continue to place priority on the security of lives and property, as well as their general welfare.

Ortom, in his Easter message signed by his media aide, Terver Akase, said the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the reason for the season, is a period when Christians should draw closer to God for His abundant grace and mercy upon their lives in the face of adversities.

He encouraged the people of the state not to lose hope, saying his administration was committed to bringing herdsmen attacks to an end to enable thousands of internally displaced persons currently in eight camps across the state to return home.

The governor particularly expressed worry over the increasing number of children and other categories of people in IDPs camps and called on other Nigerians and corporate organisations to assist the state government in managing the humanitarian crisis.

He urged the people to continue to show love to one another, as Jesus Christ taught his followers, believing that it is only when the people support authorities in building a crime-free society that government’s efforts at providing development and improved standard of living can fully be achieved.

The governor expressed confidence that the current economic and security challenges would be overcome and the state would move to the next level of development.
