Ondo to resuscitate cattle ranch
The Ondo State Government resuscitated the Auga Agro-business City Cattle Ranch by adding 35 herds of cattle and 35 goats, the state’s Chairman, Wealth Creation Agency, Mrs Bolanle Olafunmiloye, said.
Speaking during a visit to the Agro-business City in Auga, Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state, Olafunmiloye explained that the endeavour was to use the cattle as training stocks for pro-farmers to understand the concept of cow fattening, rearing, marketing and processing of livestock.
She revealed that the government had started clearing five hectares of land to provide pasture to feed the animals adding that the state government had also bought vaccines and food supplements to ensure the success of the programme.
According to her, the present administration has impacted positively on the lives of the people of the state in the area of job creation.
The chairman said efforts would be geared toward the creation of more wealth so that many unemployed youths could be self-employed and also be employers of labour in due course.
While addressing pro-farmers attached to the agro-business city, Olafunmiloye assured them that they would be exposed to the entire value chain of agriculture.
Special Assistant to the Ondo State Governor on Farm Settlement, Mr Mutiu Oreagba commended the state government for resuscitating the ranch.
Oreagba said agro-business cities sighted across the state had provided source of livelihood for the teeming unemployed youths.
He urged the pro-farmers to form groups and cooperatives in other to access the various loans put in place by government and other financial institutions.
Speaking on behalf of the pro-farmers, Mr Badmus Olalekan, thanked the state government for its vision and commitment toward poverty reduction among young graduates in the state.
