Oluyinka Davids is the chief executive of iFocus Pictures in Lagos. The award-winning cinematographer and film/video director who has been practising for the past 11 years has said that as from May, this year, he will be training youths in Ikorodu how to make films.

“Many people want to train people in the urban areas; but taking a second look at it, I want to give back to the less privileged. So, I have decided to go to areas where people don’t like going to. Industry professionals, including John Njamah and Tope Alake believe in the project and would support the vision, apart from serving as a motivation. The industry is big and I believe the training will make some of the young people roaming the streets to acquire useful skills and be useful to themselves.

“Great talents abound in this country. You will be amazed at what these young ones can do. Those interested will have to pay a token fee for logistics only. I want to nurture them, show them ways they can make good money, instead of roaming the streets. After Ikorodu, I hope to take the training to Ajah and other places in Lagos,” he stated.

Davids whose role models outside the country are Stephen Spielberg and Tyler Perry for their creativity and accuracy, said he wants to add value to people’s lives.

“I also admire the likes of Tade Ogidan, Clarence Peters, Matt Max, Aje, Mex, Fred Amata and other great filmmakers,” he noted. Davids disclosed that he is working on his first feature film. According to him, “the film is a five-man cast and would be out this year.”
