Okorocha refutes alleged purchase of jet
IMO State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, says he has not bought any private jet since becoming governor of in 2011.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemedo, the governor insisted that contrary to workers’ demand during their protest that he should sell his jet and pay their salary arrears, the jet he bought was during the administration of then President Olusegun Obasanjo, “on the aegis of Lamonde Aviation, alongside few other Nigerians.”
According to the statement, “even before the media reports, such falsehood had been the stock in trade in some quarters in the state. We want to deny with high sense of honesty that since May 29, 2011, he has never bought any private jet either directly or through any proxy.”
Meanwhile, Okorocha disclosed that some secondary school students, aged about 15 years, and those in tertiary institutions were caught in acts of cultism. Tracing such to neglect of parents and peer group influence, he ordered that they be dealt with according to the relevant laws.
