The Primate of All Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, has said for Nigeria to have credible elections come 2019, there must be peace in the country.

He stressed that there should be no cause for fear of terrorism either by Fulani herdsmen, Boko Harm, any organised militia or thugs as the general elections draw closer.

Okoh, who also appealed to the striking health workers to resume work on humanitarian grounds, charged the Federal Government to implement the agreements it reached with the health workers and other unions.

Speaking at the Second Session of the 10th Synod of the Abuja Diocese of the Church yesterday in Abuja, Okoh, who called for an end to killings in different parts of the country, cautioned that if the killings continue, it would be difficult for people to vote in next year’s polls.

His words: “Unless it is being taken as a psychological warfare that whether they come out or not, it does not matter, something drastic should be done to secure the lives and property of Nigerians.

“Otherwise, if they are killed, there will be nobody to vote come 2019. We call on the Federal Government to employ all its might to stop the killings so that the confidence of the populace may be restored in the nationhood of Nigeria and this administration.”
