Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has condoled with the Otaru of Auchi, Alhaji Aliru Momoh (Ikelebe III) and the entire Momoh family on the passing on of radical Prof. Abubakar Momoh, who was of the royal family.

Momoh, who died in the early hours of Monday, was described by the governor as a “bright mind and a worthy son of the rich Momoh heritage whose contribution to the academia and to politics was remarkably significant.”

Until his death, the deceased was a professor and Director General of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Electoral Institute, having served as the Dean of Faculty of Social Sciences at the Lagos State University (LASU).

Governor Obaseki said: “I cannot imagine the loss that the sacred kingdom feels concerning the passing of Abubakar, but I am shocked and grieved in my heart. He was one of those, who flew the flag of Edo State both within and beyond the bounds of the entire country. He was royal, not only in lineage, but in thinking”.

The governor lauded Momoh’s legacies both in the electoral institute and in the academia, including the many universities where he had lectured, and urged the Momoh family to bear the loss with courage.”
