Former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Olujowon, finally tied the knot with his heartthrob, Temitope Adebutu, daughter of the business mogul, Sir Kesington Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu, at the weekend.

Both families gathered at the Methodist Church of the Trinity, Tinubu, Lagos, as they witnessed the holy matrimony of their children, who took their wedding vows, despite the controversy surrounding their union.

The groom’s mother, Taiwo Obasanjo, had earlier filed a suit at an Ikeja High Court, seeking the postponement of the wedding to a date after June 1, but the presiding judge, Justice Lateef Okunnu, dismissed the suit on the grounds that the court lacked the jurisdiction to hear it since Olujowon, at 33, is an adult.

Rt. Reverend Michael Akinwale (Secretary of Conference, MCN), who presided over the ceremony, commended both families for making the union a success, urging the couple to be steadfast in their marriage.

He read the guiding rules of a successful marriage, which he said would make the newly wedded couple to last if they abide by them.“Marriage is meant for matured minds. These guiding rules make a marriage successful. They are patience, undiluted love, trust, faithfulness, care for each other, submissiveness, respect, prayer, investment in marriage, and value for each other’s beliefs and opinions.”

Dignitaries, politicians, royal fathers and business moguls, who graced the event, with the reception held at Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos included Aliko Dangote; Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi; Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu; publisher of The Guardian newspaper, Maiden Alex Ibru; former U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Walter Carrington and wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Arese Carrington, former governor of Ogun State, Gbenga Daniel; and governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
