NSCDC orders investigation into attack on doctor by its officers

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Muhammadu has ordered full investigation into the alleged attack and shooting of a medical doctor by its men on April 28th, 2017.

Disclosing this to newsmen in Yenagoa, the Commandant of the Bayelsa State command, Desmond Agu, said the investigation become necessary to clear any doubt about the incident, promising that the culprits if found wanting, will not go unpunished.

The Nigeria Medical Association accused two civil defence operatives, Jude Akpoghomhe and Ogodo Richman, of harassing and shooting at the car of one of its member, Dr. Bekewari Sampou.

The Commandant therefore revealed that a seven-member community to be headed by Deputy Commander GC Anyanwu of the intelligence and investigation department of the command has been set up.

He warned that any civil defence officer or men indicted by the investigation would be punished accordingly, saying that the command was not ready to protect anyone found wanting.
