The former director of Nigeria Stability and Reconciliation Programme, Hamsatu Allamin, has appealed to the Federal Government to take negotiations seriously, if it hopes to end Boko Haram activities in the country.

Speaking at the North East Region Initiative (NERI) event in Lagos, with the theme, ‘Battling Violent Extremism in Nigeria’, recently, she advised the government to authorise some persons to negotiate for the release of the abducted.

She regretted that the level of humanitarian intervention is diminishing and accused the government of escalating the situation by neglecting rescued Boko Haram victims kept in barracks.
