AGAINST the backdrop of the allegation of partisanship in the fight against corruption against the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari by the opposition People’s Democratic Party, ( PDP), Senate Caucus  the Presidency denied the allegation, saying, PDP was merely crying wolf where there was none.

In s statement in Abuja last night, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the Presidency noted the allegation by the PDP Senate Caucus lacked was baseless and lacked merit in all its ramifications

The statement said, “We have noted with regret, the allegation by members of the PDP Senate Caucus that the present administration is being selective and partisan in its prosecution of the war against corruption.

We state without equivocation that the allegation is false, baseless and totally unjustifiable.

For the avoidance of any doubt whatsoever, we affirm that having made his zero tolerance for corruption clear to all and sundry, President Muhammadu Buhari does not micro-manage or interfere in the daily work of Nigeria’s anti-corruption agencies.

The wild allegation of bias and partisanship in the fight against corruption shouldn’t have come therefore from respected and distinguished members of the  Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

That claim belongs to the past and not the present. Public officials and other leaders accused of corruption by relevant agencies should plead their innocence, not malice.

President Buhari’s unwavering stance is that whosoever is charged with corruption should face the law irrespective of whether  they are members of the of All Progressives Congress (APC) , Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), or any other political party.

As far as the President is concerned, corruption has no political party, no religion and no ethnic group.

It is important to remind the PDP Senate Caucus and all Nigerians that  right from 2003 when he started campaigning for the Presidency of Nigeria, President Buhari consistently promised to do his best to curb corruption in the country.

The President remains wholly committed to fulfilling that promise and will not be deterred from the relentless prosecution of the war against corruption because he remains convinced that, as he has said, “unless Nigeria kills corruption, corruption will kill Nigeria”.

The statement went further, “The claim by the PDP Senate caucus that President Buhari and his administration are meddling in election petition cases through the Department of State Services (DSS) is also untrue.

The duties of the DSS and other security agencies  are clearly spelt out in the laws establishing them. The Federal Government led by President Buhari does not give them instructions regarding their daily operations.

Election Tribunals and the Independent National Electoral Commission  in Rivers, Abia and Akwa-Ibom States  do not operate under the guidance of the President.

Any individual or group of individuals who think that their legitimate political and civil rights are infringed upon by the DSS or any institution is advised to seek protection and redress under our constitution and laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria instead of resorting to baseless allegations against the Buhari Administration.”

Under President Buhari’s watch, Shehu claimed  the rule of law, not impunity, shall govern every aspect of life in Nigeria and there will be no room for sentiments, bias and corruption in the application of the laws of the land.

President Buhari also wishes to re-assure all Nigerians that his administration will not discriminate against individuals or groups in the performance of its duties and that favours or patronage will not be dispensed on the basis of votes.

The President remains committed to his Oath of Office and  the letters and spirit of the constitution.

He calls on all Nigerians to join hands with him in the fight against insecurity, corruption and impunity in Nigeria so that we can have a country that will prosper for the benefit of all of its citizens  and future  generations of Nigerians.”, Shehu stressed.

Agbobu, please calm down. As much as stealing under GEJ’s government should be condemned and stolen monies recovered, in actual fact, he is the least of Nigeria’s problems. It’s like ignoring leprosy to invest time and resources in the cure rashes! The present government is just using it to keep the public busy and divert their attention from the real problems of Nigeria and their roots!

    ROOT NUMBER ONE
The biggest problem in Nigeria is the fraudulent and corrupt constitution that converted our federal system of government into a unitary government without our consent – for the sole purpose of converting a regional resource into a ‘national cake’ thereby generating a scramble to take as much as possible without regard to others, particularly the legitimate owners. One of the other consequences is the denial of regions and states the legitimate right to develop their people and resources at their own pace – which has automatically crippled the nation and stifuled initiative and innovation.

    ROOT NUMBER TWO
The second biggest problem is the m-il-it-ary politicians, their cronies, puppets and cabals who hare illegally and legally ruled Nigeria since the 1966 coup and who have controlled power, wealth and their disbursement; institutionalised corruption and turned it into an art, and have not allowed any ‘bloody civilian’ to rule Nigeria or with peace of mind since then.
Incidentally, everything that is being said and done today about GEJ’s government was exactly what was said and done to, and about the government of Shagari after it was illegally toppled in a mi- li- ta-ry!

Whatever GEJ’s government have stolen, it cannot be more than 1% to 5% of what has been stolen from Nigeria since 1966! So if this government or anybody is really serious about fighting corruption, they know where to go and what to do but are too afraid or unwilling to do so. Therefore, they will keep you perpetually busy and distracted by their relentless vilification of GEJ’s government and with unending tales about it’s exploits.

You need to understand that generally, politicians of all uniforms are highly experienced shapers of opinion and puppet masters, so you need to shine your eyes, study the history of Nigeria again and calm your nerves because this is going to be a very longggg ride!

Bd, the problem with Nigeria is the system/structure of the Federal Government, so any wise and sincere fight against corruption must start with restructuring the government, which will in turn dilute the powers and influence of the M cabal.
Until this is done, even if you prosecute and imprison 20 million Nigerians, bring Angel Gabriel from heaven and his Muslim counterpart, to be President/s of Nigeria, corruption/stealing of public funds will continue unabated and they will end up looking incompetent. For example, B-uh-a-ri did far more than this in his first coming as President. If this his well known and worn tactics had any iota of long term benefit, Nigeria will not be where we are today. It’s a very very temporary solution, intended to keep the public busy, distracted and entertained, while persecuting perceived enemies but achieves no lasting good, only causes more damage to national psyche and fragile unity of Nigeria in the long term.

Any government that does not recognise the above simple facts is either scamming Nigerians or is delusional. You can only plant ideas in the minds of the public and influence their thoughts and do image laundering, without meaningful results for so long and no further.

Why didn’t GEJ do it? It is likely that he would have done this essential and unavoidable restructuring if he had had a second term. (He was more likely hounded out of office by the main beneficiaries of the current fraudulent system-mainly to ensure that the restructuring will not be done). Most Heads of State generally do better and get a lot more serious issues resolved during their second term because the first term is usually consumed by the balancing of political and other interests, uniting the country and laying foundations. President Barack Obama is a good example. This was particularly necessary in GEJ’s case because he did not have the ‘power or protection’ of the entitled M cabal and is also a minority. So GEJ had to tread very carefully in order to avoid being consumed before he could achieve anything.
