From Iyabo Lawal, Ibadan OLAJUMOKE Akinjide, daughter of Second Republic Minister of Justice, Chief Richard Akinjide, yesterday formally declared her intention to go to the Senate as she joined the race for the Oyo Central Senatorial seat in the 2011 polls.

The younger Akinjide, who was Special Assistant to former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Federal Capital Territory Matters, asked professionals and high quality candidates to seek elective offices in Nigeria.

Declaring her ambition in Oyo town, Akinjide also deplored the negative influence of godfatherism and nepotism on the nation.

She also expressed concern over increasing cases of corruption in the country, saying a lasting solution must be found to it for the nation to grow.
