ABIA State government had declared that it has completed 165 of the 200 health centres planned in the 17 Council areas of the state with a view to promoting infant and maternal health towards actualising the health component of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The 165 centres are also billed to have boreholes but only 10 have been completed while the rest are at different stages even as each will additionally be provided with a tricycle (Keke NAPEP) to facilitate movement of patients in the rural areas before and after recovery.

Announcing this development at the weekend while commissioning two of such completed health centres at Umuada Ngodo Isuochi and Obulo both in Umunneochi local council, the state governor, Chief Theodore Orji, said that the achievement testifies to his administration’s vowed determination and commitment to promote infant and maternal health care.
