A newly registered political party, the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has threatened to sue Kwankwaso and Rochas’ groups over conflict in names.

The Interim National Chairman of the party, Senator Saidu Dansadau, disclosed this in Abuja.

Dansadau, who addressed state chairmen and party chieftains in Abuja, urged the two groups to stop using ‘rescue movement’ in their activities.

He said: “We are the only recognised political party with “Rescue Movement,” and we don’t want groups to carry the name in the political space.

“We would write to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the outcome of which would determine our next action.

According to him, using the word ‘rescue movement’ in their political activities would create confusion in the mind of the electorate.

On the unwillingness of credible people to contest elections in the country, he said: “Credible Nigerians have been shying away from participating in partisan politics. It is not due to their lack of resources, but because they don’t have the interest.”

He disclosed that the NRM has reached out to frontline lawyer, Afe Babalola, the Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Mathew Hassan Kukah, and former Minister of Education, Mrs. Oby Ezekwesili, to attend the party’s meeting next month.

He disclosed that the NRM would be officially launched on February 3, 2018.

“We believe that political power is meant to serve God and humanity, even though, it may not be easy to garner the resources for elective posts.

“Community associations of the 36 states, which are based in the FCT would be mobilised for the launch,” he added.
