THE Nigerian Bar and elders of Akwa Ibom State have taken different views on the appointments made so far by President Muhammadu Buhari.

While the chairman of the Eket chapter of the NBA, Akapadiaha Ebitu, believed that the appointments made were key to decision-making in the new government and had been lopsided, Otuekong Sunny Jackson, an elder representing the Southern Leaders, on the other hand, called on Nigerians to be patient with the President as every section of the country would be represented when the ministerial list emerges.

He appealed for support to enable decency return to governance.

According to Ebito, “all the key appointments from President Buhari administration were given to the northerners in the country. It is totally wrong, unconscious able. It is a recipient for chaos, agitation, unquestionable and crisis because from all indication, there are certain meetings that will be held and it will be conducted in Hausa.

“To add salt to injury, they are saying it was on merit. Are you saying that northerners are more intelligent that the southerners or more qualified than the southerners?” he queried.
