Erstwhile Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has called on the people to shun divisive tendencies and work for the development of Benue State.

He made the appeal at the weekend in Makurdi during an awards ceremony.

The minister noted that under-development was endemic in the state due to the divisiveness of the people on the fault lines of tribes and sheer hatred.

He stressed that massive development could only be witnessed in the state if the indigenes shun tribal sentiments and start reasoning as a people.

According to him, the killings and incessant attacks on Benue communities by herdsmen were persistent because of the people’s disunity.

Moro said: ‘’It is very sad that Benue people are refugees in their state for no just cause.

‘With he rate at which the people are killed on a daily basis, there will come a time when the inhabitants will be completely eliminated on the surface of the earth if the attacks are not checked.’’

He called on security agencies to dig deep into the killings and prosecute the masterminds.

Moro also enjoined the people to help the less privileged among them with their God-given wealth, stressing that by so doing, the society could move forward.
