The Asagba of Asaba, Obi Prof. Chike Edozien, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State for the ongoing reconstruction at Asaba Airport. The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) downgraded the airport in April 2015 for having an undulating runway and lacking a perimeter fence.

Speaking, yesterday, shortly after an inspection visit by a delegation of Asaba high chiefs to the airport, Obi Godfrey Konwea, who led the delegation, on behalf of the Asagba, said the monarch who is currently on medical vacation, mandated them to inspect the airport.

“We have seen it and this is wonderful. This is a great job. We say a big thank you to Governor Okowa. Asaba people are peaceful and patient. It does not mean that we are weak. We have witnessed three democratically elected governors in our state. This administration has not received half the money others received but it has done very well.”

Project Director for the airport, Mr. Austin Ayemidejor, and the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Mr. Fred Edafiogor, showed members of the Asagba-in-Council the 3.4 kilometre runway, fire service station, VIP lounge and terminal building, among others.
