MOBIL Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN) has expended N16 billion on major infrastructural projects in Akwa Ibom State though its Joint Venture (JV) with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

Also, the partnership has contributed over N160 billion to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) since its inception in 2001.

The company’s Manger, Media and Communication, Ogeckukwu Udeagha who made the disclosure during a two-day capacity building workshop for journalists in Akwa Ibom State, named the ongoing Eket-Ibeno Road as one of the projects, stressing that as a good corporate citizen, Mobil had good working relationship with government at all levels in the state.

“The NNPC/MPN Joint Venture has in the last three years contributed over N16 billion to major infrastructural projects in Akwa Ibom State, including the Eket-Ibeno Road which is undergoing construction. This figure is exclusive of other sponsorship programmes in the state, including the AKS/NNPC/MPN secondary school students, annual secondary, undergraduate and post-graduate scholarships, refresher training for primary and secondary school teachers as well as skill acquisition and economic empowerment programmes for women. In addition, the JV has contributed over N160 billion to the NDDC since its creation in 2001”, he said.
