Lawmakers, ASUP want masterminds of murders arrested

IMO State lawmakers have lamented the security agencies’ inability to apprehend those who assassinated Rev Fr. Dennis Osuagwu on August 15, as well as the United Kingdom-based Onyemachukwu Anyanwu on July 13 in his town, Umungara in Obohia, Ekwereazu.

Urging Governor Rochas Okorocha, the Commissioner of Police and the Director, Department of State Service (DSS) to diligently investigate the killings, apprehend the killers and make them face the law, the lawmakers described Anyanwu’s murder on arrival from the UK as a serious danger signal.

Similarly, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Imo Polytechnic chapter, has tasked the state Police Command to fish out the masterminds of the crime and bring them to book, as well as offer them protection to and from work.

In a statement by ASUP Chairman, Ikpemo Ogechi, General Secretary, Ike Ebenezer, and Public Relations Officer, Ibeh Sunny, the body urged the law enforcement agencies to come to their rescue.
