Lagos lifts restriction of movement in Fadeyi

The Lagos State government has completed the removal of the dilapidated and disused steel pedestrian bridge at Fadeyi bus-stop along Ikorodu Road and has lifted the partial restriction of movement in the Fadeyi end of Ikorodu road.

The state government had last week announced partial restriction of movement on Ikorodu Road to enable the replacement of the disused Fadeyi Bridge with a new footbridge.

In a statement on Sunday by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, Mr. Olujimi Hotonu, the government thanked Lagosians for their co-operation, which led to the completion of the removal of the bridge ahead of schedule.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) has begun massive rehabilitation of defective roads in the state, taking advantage of good weather in recent times. The Special Adviser (Public Works and Drainages), Temidayo Erinle, disclosed this during a media chat in his office at Ojodu-Berger.

He revealed that the governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has directed that Lagos roads be free of potholes. “In the last two weeks, we have began the milling and relaying of asphalt on the Ojota-Ketu interchange, while paving stones were laid on sections of roads liable to flooding along Ketu Inter-change to Ojota. The drainage canal at Adebimpe Street, Ketu has just been cleared to address the problem of flooding in the area.

“Similarly, the corporation has almost completed the laying of paving stones on Water Corporation Road (Trinity Avenue), Off Ligali Ayorinde, Victoria Island, while palliative works have also been carried out on the Lagos-Badagry expressway (Agbara inward Aradagun).
