KEFFI Emirate Council in Nasarawa State has selected a new Emir of Keffi, who will coordinate the affairs of the Emirate council in the state. He is Dr. Shehu Usman Yamusa II.

The Guardian recalls that his late father, Alhaji Muhammadu Chindo Yamusa II passed away recently.

Disclosing the development to members of the state traditional council and newsmen at Government House, Lafia yesterday, Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura said based on the power vested on him, he gave a seven days notice and appointed a presiding officer to supervise the selection of the new emir.

Al Makura said the new emir Alhaji Shehu Usman Chindo Yamusa II, of the Abdu-Zanga Royal family got five votes against Alhaji Usman Galadima, the Galadiman Keffi who scored two votes in an election participated by the seven kingmakers of the emirate.

Until his appointment, the new Emir of Keffi is the first male son of the late Emir and a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

A seasoned administrator and academic, the new Emir who was born on November 4, 1966 has served the Nasarawa State government and the Nigeria Universities Commission (NUC) in various capacities.
