Kwankwaso supporters blame Ganduje, police for attacks

The Kwankwasiyya group has accused the Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje of masterminding the Saturday attacks on supporters of ex-Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The leader of the group, Dr. Yunusa Adamu Dangini made the accusation yesterday in Kano.

Danginni, who was the Commissioner for Water Resources in Kwankwaso’s government, alleged that Ganduje’s agents orchestrated the attacks.He also accused the police of aiding what he described as a deliberate plot to ambush Kwankwaso’s followers.

Danginni told journalists that he had evidence to prove that the government and security agents were behind the attack, which left over 50 people wounded. Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Information, Muhammad Garba has commiserated with the people who sustained injuries during the incident.

In a statement, the commissioner charged the security agents to unravel those behind the evil act, adding that the full weight of the law would be brought against them.

“The government is not unaware that some perpetrators are still bent on causing trouble, but it would not fold its arms in the face of threat to peace and stability,” he said.Ganginni explained that the attack by the governors’ supporters, also called Gandugiyya, was caused by the hate speech he made against Kwankwaso loyalists.

According to him, Ganduje had two weeks ago during a prayer session, alleged that the miscreants who carried out the act were only acting the script of the state.
He said: “Ganduje started the attack when he described the Kwankwasiyya activities in Kano and other states across the federation as havoc, disaster, foolishness, stupidity and hypocrisy.

“He promised that his government would not tolerate the Kwankwasiyya movement in the state. The governor also said he would do everything possible to stop the movement irrespective of the consequences.”

Gandinni alleged that two members of the state House of Assembly, Baffa Baba Dan Gundi and Sani Lawal Kofar Mata, led some security officials to carry out the dastardly act.While urging Kwankwaso supporters to remain calm, he promised that they would seek redress.

He named the Kwankwaso supporters who were wounded to include a former Secretary to the state Government, Rabiu Suleiman Bichi and former Commissioners, Yusuf Bello Danbatta and Yunusa Adamu Dangwani.Others include Yahaya Musa Kwankwaso, Baba Abubakar Umar, Zainab Audu Bako and some patients at Hasiya Bayero Hospital.
