BARELY 24 hours after Chief Olu Falae was rescued from kidnappers by security operatives led by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, the pastor of Apostolic Faith Church, Ilepa, in Ikare Akoko, the Reverend Japhet Obafemi, has been kidnapped.

The 70-year-old clergyman was said to have been abducted along Auga-Akunnu road near Ondo/Kogi states border in Akoko North-East local council area of the state on Tuesday when Falae was still in his kidnappers’ den.

Obafemi had earlier been declared missing by his family and church members until the kidnappers contacted his family members to demand for a ransom of N16 million before he would be released.

One of his church members, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the victim’s family and church could not raise such money and implored the Ondo State government and security operatives to expedite his release.

The caretaker chairman of Akoko North East Local Council, Alhaji Azeez Al-amam and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of the area, Mr. Musliyu Sogbade confirmed the incident, saying efforts were on top gear to rescue the aged pastor.
