Praying-ground-CopyTHE Police in Kebbi yesterday said it had deployed 4,000 officers and men of the command to enhance security during Eid el-Kabir in the state.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Yakubu Jibrin, who disclosed this to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, said effective community policing would be ensured during the festival.

He said security has already been beefed up across the 21 local councils to prevent any break down of law and order.

The police boss also assured the public of the command’s commitment towards ensuring a peaceful Eid el-Kabir.

Jibrin advised the general public, especially the youth, to shun violence and other criminal activities detrimental to their life.

“I advise the youth to desist from being used by people with nefarious intentions to perpetrate violence, which could lead to breach of the law. I am calling on parents to warn their children and wards to desist from engaging in violence,” he said.

The police boss, however, called on citizens to go about their legitimate businesses and report any suspicious movement by groups or individuals to police or other security agencies.
