Justice Charles Durueke passes on
THE death has occurred of Justice Charles Ifeanyi Dureke (rtd). He died on June 26, 2015 and will be buried on Saturday, September 19, 2015.
A devout Catholic and Knight of St. John’s International, the late jurist started public service as a two- term member of the old Imo State House of Assembly (1979-83), representing Nsu State Constituency in the present day Ehime- Mbano Local Council. He also served on many Boards, Commissions, Judicial Panels and Tribunals at the State and Federal levels.
After years of successful legal practice, he joined the State Judiciary in 1986 rising to the position of Chief Registrar in 1992 and retired as a High Court Judge in October 2010 after over 15 years of meritorious service. Dureke held the traditional title of Agbowodikeizu. He is survived by his six children and many grandchildren.
