The adjournment followed an application by counsel to Mrs. Ademola, Chief Roberts Clarke (SAN), who told the court that he would not be able to proceed with the day’s business on health ground.

An Abuja High Court yesterday adjourned the trial of Justice Adeniyi Ademola and two others till February 20 and 21 for continuation of trial.

Justice Ademola is standing trial alongside his wife, Olabowale, and Joe Agi (SAN) over allegation of receipt of gratification and illegal possession of firearms.

The adjournment followed an application by counsel to Mrs. Ademola, Chief Roberts Clarke (SAN), who told the court that he would not be able to proceed with the day’s business on health ground.

He, therefore, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him visit his doctor.

While the prosecution counsel, Segun Jegede, did not oppose the application, he, however, observed that the spate of trial was taken its toll on counsel, as a member of his team was also in the hospital.

In his short ruling, Justice Jude Okeke granted the application and consequently adjourned till February 20 and 21.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) yesterday sent two lawyers, Kola Omotinugbon and Amuche Onyedu, to observe the trial.
