Jahun LG in Jigawa wins UNICEF competition

unicefJahun Local Government of Jigawa, on Friday, emerged winner of quiz competition organised by UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to mark this year’s world breastfeeding week in the state.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Jahun had seven points to clinch first position, while Birniwa came second with five points, followed by Buji with four points.

In his remarks, the UNICEF Chief Field Officer from Bauchi Zone, Mr Abdulai Kaikai, commended participants of the quiz for their intellectual display.

Kaikai, who said that the competition was organised to know how people at the grassroots knew about exclusive breastfeeding, said their performances showed that they were acquainted with it.

He urged stakeholders to give much attention and practice exclusive breastfeeding for good growth and improved health status of their children.

Gifts were presented to winners of the competition, while other participants got consolation prizes. (
