The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has advised intending pilgrims, who have yet to undergo medical screening to do so before the April 1 deadline.

The Public Relations Officer of the board, Alhaji Nuhu Badamasi, gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Tuesday.

He said that any intending pilgrim, wishing to perform this year’s pilgrimage to the holy land must attend the screening before the allotment of hajj seats.

“The screening and registration of the intending pilgrims are going on simultaneously in all the 44 Local Government Areas of the state.

“So any person wishing to secure hajj seat must be screened to ascertain his or her health status.’’

He said the screening was aimed at ensuring that intending pilgrims were healthy and that those with health challenges were identified and given special treatment at home and in the holy land.

According to him, no intending pilgrim will be registered without undergoing the exercise in their respective local governments of origin.

Badamasi called on intending pilgrims to give the board necessary support and cooperation to achieve its set goals.
He said the screening was in compliance with the directive of the Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
