Institute attributes violence to economic downturn, hardship

President, Institute of Chattered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Mr. Emeka Ogbegolu, has blamed the high rate of violence across the country on the prevailing economic downturn.
President, Institute of Chattered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC), Mr. Emeka Ogbegolu, has blamed the high rate of violence across the country on the prevailing economic downturn.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of a training programme by his Institute on alternative dispute resolution, Ogbegolu noted that government stands to save a lot time and resources by working with the Institute in resolving numerous conflicts across the nation.
According to him, such module has been introduced to both civil and criminal issues over time and they have proved efficient.According to him, the Institute has trained over 6000 personnel in conflict management, and is at present working with some state governments to establish multi-door courts for dispute resolution.
One of the participants, a Director of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Aba Ejembi, described the training as essential, especially towards management of family and community.
