Ikpeazu pledges even development of Abia

Akwa Ibom State gov, Udom Emmanuel, scores self high

Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has renewed his pledge to evenly develop the state in line with the five pillars he listed as education, commerce and trade, oil and gas, infrastructure and agriculture, saying that they (pillars) have the potentials to accelerate growth and development and place the state on enviable pedestal.

In a radio and television broadcast yesterday to mark the anniversary of his two years in office, the governor said that he had taken steps to deliver on these pillars and enablers which results, he said, are visible to all.

He said that out of the 80 roads he embarked upon across the state, 40 had been completed at Aba most with rigid pavement technology that guarantees their longevity while “those completed at Aba had brought back business in Aba.”

According to him, 10 roads in each of the state’s 17 local councils would be rehabilitated within the next one year, while 100 Abia youths would be sponsored to China to understudy mechanised shoe production for one year just as another 10 youths from each local council would be empowered with N100,000 to do business with.

In another development, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, yesterday said that his administration in the past two years had scored many goals to fulfill his promises to the people of the state.

He made this assertion in his broadcast to mark his two years in office.He said he came into office at the time the country was plunged into recession, but noted that with the help of God, he was able to manage the lean resources by providing those democratic dividends that have impacted positively on the lives of Akwa Ibom people.

“We are headed for a convincing and unassailable victory in spite of the hard tackles of the opposing team. It is a known fact that we came into government at a time of severe economic recession in the country, arising from the sharp drop in oil prices, which as you all know, remains the main source of our income. It was a time that demanded the creative application of scarce resources to meet the needs and expectations of the people. I believe, given my professional background, that God prepared me for a moment like this,” he stressed.

The governor further said that education had received serious attention by his government, stressing that such made his administration to continue in supporting the payment of WAEC fees for Akwa Ibom students in senior secondary schools. He, therefore, called on the people of the state who are on other political parties to join hands with him to develop the state.
