IGP charges police officers to protect facilities

The Inspector General of Police, Idris Ibrahim has directed officers of various commands to ensure adequate protection of all facilities in their areas.

Ibrahim handed down the orders yesterday while addressing officers and men of the Imo State Police command at its headquarters in Owerri, Imo State.

The IGP, who inspected facilities donated by the Imo State government, including the Nigeria Police College of Finance and Administration, Obiohia/Ogwume, Ideato South council; Police Special Protection Unit Base and Police 250- bed Hospital, all in Ideato South, insisted that the state government’s must be acknowledged by protecting them, noting that he was fascinated by the performance of the officers in the state by the arrest of a bandit who usually kidnap people in the South-East.

He urged that the Police must be in tune with the “change begins with me” slogan adding that the new mantra of the force must be taken seriously.

Ibrahim said he was elated by the promotion exercise that uplifted police officers across the country, insisting that facilities donated by the Imo State government must be protected.

The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Okey Ezeike expressed gladness to the IGP and others who were instrumental to the promotion of officers, noting that the command required that a unit in Anambra should be returned to the state for improved performance.
