Honeywell Flour Mills Plc, in conjunction with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has rolled out safety campaign aimed at ensuring accident-free Christmas and New Year celebrations.

Officials of both organisations were at the flagged off of a road safety campaign at Owena Motor Park, Ojota, where drivers were enlightened on safe driving culture, especially on the need to drive safely into the New Year.

Tagged, ‘Right to Life on the Highway: Not Negotiable,’ the initiative, according to Managing Director of Honeywell, Mr. Lanre Jaiyeola, is to create awareness among road users, especially in this festive season, to be very careful and mindful of other commuters on the road.

Jaiyeola, represented by Marketing Director, Mr. Benson Evbuomwan, said: “We always partner with FRSC to ensure that people are safe at all times, especially during the Yuletide, to observe all the safety procedures required at this time.

“We don’t want to lose people, so that we don’t lose market also.”

He said accidents are oftentimes caused by negligence on the part of motorists to observe simple safety rules, saying adherence to such rules would go a long way to minimise loss of lives on the roads.

Addressing commercial transporters at the park, FRSC, Ojota Unit Commander, Ojota, Mr. Innocent Etuk, lamented that despite the corps and stakeholders’ efforts to ensure safety on roads during this period, over-speeding, overloading, driving under the influence of alcohol and dangerous driving still persist.

He, however, assured that the FRSC, in anticipation of increased vehicular movements during this season, would engage in robust public education and enforcement activities to reduce the rate of crashes on the roads.
