Heritage Bank organises financial literacy programme for youths
The programme was in line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s mandate for all banks to educate children and youths on money and its values.
Heritage Bank took the lead in the industry by launching the Financial Literacy Programme for schools in February 2014, where it unveiled its brand ambassador, Zuriel Oduwole.
According to Heritage Bank’s Customer Engagement Analyst, Mrs. Amarachi Iheagwan, who was the lead facilitator at the event in Lagos, which was part of Awesome Treasure Foundation’s Summer Camp, the goal of the Financial Literacy programme is to empower Nigerian children and Youths to make informed decisions about finances and wealth creation so that they could improve on their present and long-term financial wellbeing. Her words: “The programme is aimed at educating children and youths on managing money effectively.”
According to her, children and youths should have the knowledge about the value and essence of money early in life, as this will put them ahead of their peers in the area of creation and preservation of wealth.
So far, the bank has implemented financial training sessions in eight schools across Lagos, Abuja, Abia and Ekiti states.
