UNIDENTIFIED gunmen have abducted Dornu Kogbara, a columnist in the Vanguard Newspaper.

It was gathered that Kogbara was taken away early yesterday by the gunmen at her Nkpogu residence in Obio/akpor Local Council of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Muhammad, confirmed the incident, saying police was on the trail of the kidnappers.

The Rivers State government has condemned the abduction. Governor Nyesom Wike, who spoke through his media aide, Opunabo Nko-Tariah, expressed optimism that Kogbara would be released unhurt.

He said the government was making effort to ensure every resident in the state enjoyed adequate security.
