Groups advocate regular hand washing to prevent diarrhea

Lagos State Ministry of Health, Save the Children International and Reckitt Benckiser have reiterated the need for proper washing of hands to prevent diarrhea, especially among children.

They made the call at the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Stop Diarrhea Initiative (SDI) in Lagos. The Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, Dr Jide Idris, represented by Dr. Eniola Erinosho, Director, Diseases Control, said when children and adults imbibe the culture of regular hand washing, diseases like diarrhoea can be prevented.

Area Operations Manager, Save the Children, Lagos and Rivers State Mr. Roy Chikwem, said the meeting was to improve TWG members understanding of SDI and strengthen TWG members capacity to mainstream the objective of SDI.

On her part, Marketing Manager, Reckitt Benckiser, Omotola Bamigbaye-Elatuyi, said the meeting was all about collaboration to ensure all hands are on deck to make the project successful.
